Grand Strand Chapter
TRANSITION Assistance for Members:
MOAA provides its members and their spouses with military-focused information, services, and resources for career transition. Whether you are transitioning to a civilian career from the military or moving from one civilian career to another, MOAA can assist you in two ways.
First: by going to the MOAA Website (www.MOAA.org), and selecting “Publications Guidelines and Resources” from the “Publications” pull down menu, MOAA members can scroll down to a brochure entitled: “Marketing Yourself for a Second Career” and download it. This brochure contains a wealth of information that is helpful in transitioning to the civilian job market.
Second: if you return to the top-level MOAA menu, and select: “Transitions and Careers” from the “Benefits and Discounts” pull down menu, you have access to several tools that are valuable in seeking a second career.
One is a job board specifically for MOAA members.
Employers post jobs on a real-time basis, and search the database daily, looking for candidates with skills typically found in former military officers.
Another is a schedule of upcoming virtual and live career fairs sponsored by MOAA.
Finally, there is the MOAA career networking program that connects MOAA members and spouses who are in job transition with other individuals who are sources of valuable employment information.
