Since 2007, the Grand Strand Chapter has been awarding scholarships at 18 area high schools. The Scholarships aim to encourage service to our Country and to help young people achieve desired goals.  This scholarship is merit based and limited to high school seniors residing in Horry and surrounding counties.  They have to be enrolled in JROTC or have been accepted in a senior ROTC Program at a university.  Students must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership in their unit/school, have extracurricular interests, work experience, community service or other achievements. Students from military families and those with a military career goal receive special consideration.

Over a number of years the Chapter has worked hard to increase our merit based scholarship awards to college bound graduating JROTC cadets from a single $1,000 annual scholarship, to three or even four $2,000 scholarships each year.  This is one of the, if not the, most generous scholarships provided by charitable organizations on the Grand Strand.  The Scholarship Awardees and their immediate families are recognized as our honored guests at our early May dinner meeting.  They later ride in the Myrtle Beach Military Appreciation Days parade.
