Myrtle Beach Veterans Stand Down – Important Notice – RESCHEDULED!

The Myrtle Beach Veterans Stand Down was delayed a week due to Hurricane Florence.  Once again, we are calling all volunteers willing to support our Veterans in need.

Even if you signed up before, you will need to sign up again so we can get an accurate head count.

The 5th Annual Myrtle Beach Veterans Stand Down will be held Friday, 28 September, 8am to 2 pm at the U.S. Army Reserve Center, 3382 Phillis Blvd, Myrtle Beach SC 29577.

MOAA (Military Officers Association of America, Grand Strand Chapter) will once again coordinate volunteers for this excellent cause.

We need volunteers to help set up on Thursday, 27 September from 10 am to 2 pm. On Friday, we will have two shifts of four hours each to help veterans get signed in, navigate the various vendor tables and various support functions. Shifts Friday will be 7 am to 11 am and 11 am to 3 pm. You are welcome to work more than one shift.

Sign up is easy. Select the method below that works for you.

Welcome  from Dave Townsend, Grand Strand Chapter President

Thank you for visiting our new website.  Our chapter is a welcoming and active organization with 145 members.  Membership is open to active duty, retired, and former commissioned officers and warrant officers of the uniformed services (Active, Reserve, National Guard, and State Guard):  Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  In general, we support veterans’ issues locally and nationally.  We provide leadership awards and college scholarships to deserving area high school cadets in JROTC units.  We attend and support numerous veteran activities in the Grand Strand area including the “Stand Down” for homeless veterans, May Military Appreciation Month events and Memorial Day parade.  We let our voice be known concerning legislative issues both at the state and national level.

We normally have a dinner meeting ten months of the year (excluding July and August) at the Pine Lakes Country Club on the second Tuesday of the month.  You are invited to give us a try.  Call me at 843-907-1763 to make a reservation, and I hope to welcome you to our award-winning chapter,

Dave Townsend
