We
are excited to be particpating in
2012 Military
Appreciation Days, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Click on the above link to view some of the activites scheduled during May 2012
. A number of our members including:
Roger Pilcher, Bob Hawkins, Jimmy Jacobs, Tom Satterfield are actively involved in planning this event with the City of Myrtle Beach and the Chamber of Commerce. Please mark your calendars to
plan to come and support their efforts.
Check the website often
for more news on this annual Myrtle Beach event.
The
Chapter awards scholarships to those High School seniors
participating in Jr. ROTC programs, who will be attending
college the following fall.
Fundraising
is accomplished by contributions of the members. In past
years, the Chapter has been able to award the minimum
of two (2) $1000 scholarships each year. Last year, 2011,
thanks to the generosity of the members, we were able
to award three (3) $1,000 scholarships .
In
addition to funding the scholarships, the members volunteer
to personally present the ROTC and JR ROTC awards each
year at Coastal Carolina University and the participating
High Schools in the Grand Strand area.
We
actively participate in the Toys for Tots campaign during
the Holiday Season and have sent "Care packages"
to the servicemen and women serving in Iraq.
Scents
for Soldiers - Items are collected
by our Chapter and given to Christina Shealy to be delivered
personally to wounded soldiers . If you want or need,
we provide a list of permitted and requested items at our
Chapter meetings. Thanks to the efforts of Christine
and her volunteers, Wounded Soldiers and their familiesare brought to Myrtle Beach, at no cost
to the soldiers, and introduced to people of all walks of life.
Please join
us at the next monthy dinner meeting to learn more about the
chapter and the members who tirelessly give of their time and
talent.
